Vedclass · Answer

(C) The evolutionary history of the horse is well-documented in the fossil record. $Eohippus$ (also known as $Hyracotherium$) is recognized as the earliest known ancestor of the modern horse. It lived during the Eocene epoch, approximately $50$ million years ago. It was a small,dog-sized animal with four toes on its front feet and three toes on its hind feet, adapted for browsing in forests. Therefore,$Eohippus$ represents the oldest fossil in this evolutionary lineage.
