(A) The 'Rivet Popper Hypothesis' was proposed by Paul Ehrlich to explain the importance of species diversity in an ecosystem. In this hypothesis, the ecosystem is compared to an airplane. Each species in the ecosystem is considered a 'rivet' that holds the airplane together. If passengers (humans) start popping rivets (extinguishing species) one by one,the airplane (ecosystem) may initially remain functional, but as more rivets are removed, the airplane becomes weak and eventually crashes (ecosystem collapse).

In the 'Rivet Popper Hypothesis',the ecosystem is compared to which of the following?
