Vedclass · Answer

(A) Photosynthesis is the process by which autotrophs convert light energy into chemical energy. In aquatic ecosystems, the primary producers are phytoplankton (microscopic algae and cyanobacteria). These organisms are responsible for the vast majority of primary production in the oceans and other water bodies, accounting for a significant portion of the global oxygen production and carbon fixation. Therefore, maximum photosynthesis occurs by phytoplankton.
