(A) The phylum $Hemichordata$ includes organisms like $Balanoglossus$ (acorn worms). In their life cycle, they undergo indirect development, which involves a free-swimming larval stage known as the $Tornaria$ larva. This larva shares structural similarities with the bipinnaria larva of echinoderms, suggesting an evolutionary link between the two groups. Therefore, the correct option is $A$.
