Inside the chloroplast, there are flattened,sac-like structures called thylakoids, which are stacked like coins to form structures known as grana. The fluid-filled space surrounding the grana within the chloroplast is called the stroma. The stroma contains enzymes required for the synthesis of carbohydrates and proteins,as well as small,double-stranded circular $DNA$ molecules and ribosomes.
