(D) neuron is the structural and functional unit of the neural system. It consists of three major parts: $1$. Cell body (also known as the cyton or soma),which contains the nucleus and cytoplasm with Nissl's granules. $2$. Dendrites, which are short, branched processes that receive impulses and conduct them towards the cell body. $3$. Axon, which is a long fiber that conducts impulses away from the cell body towards a synapse. Ganglia are clusters of cell bodies found outside the central nervous system, not parts of a single neuron's structure.
