This involves the donation of electron density from the $CO$ $5\sigma$ orbital to the metal $d$-orbital and the back-donation of electron density from the metal $d$-orbital to the $CO$ $\pi^*$ antibonding orbital. This back-donation increases the electron density in the antibonding orbital of $CO$,which decreases the $C-O$ bond order. $A$ decrease in bond order leads to an increase in bond length. Therefore,the $CO$ bond length in $Fe(CO)_5$ is greater than the $CO$ bond length in free carbon monoxide $(1.128 \ \mathring{A})$. Among the given options,$1.15 \ \mathring{A}$ is the only value greater than $1.128 \ \mathring{A}$.
