The carbonyl group $(-CO-)$ is a strongly electron-withdrawing group and is meta-directing. The phenyl ring attached directly to the carbonyl group is deactivated,while the other phenyl ring (attached to the $-CH_2-$ group) is relatively more activated towards electrophilic substitution. The $-CH_2-$ group is ortho/para-directing. Therefore,the electrophile $Br^+$ will attack the para-position of the phenyl ring attached to the $-CH_2-$ group to form the major product,which is $1$-phenyl-$2$-($4$-bromophenyl)ethan-$1$-one.
